Allison Tartalia is a musician, actress and teaching artist. In addition to her highly praised debut CD, Ready, Allison can be heard on the recordings of numerous other artists, singing background vocals and playing piano or melodica. She has toured extensively throughout the United States and is a frequent festival performer. Allison graduated from The New School and studied acting at the London Dramatic Academy. As a teaching artist, she has worked with numerous organizations, including Educational Alliance, Neighborhood Music and Arts, Willie Mae Rock and Roll Camp for Girls and Bach to Rock. For the past three years she has taught rock band, piano, guitar and voice to students at Manhattan's PS166, The Richard Rogers School of Arts and Technology
Allison gives private lessons on piano, guitar and voice to students of all ages. Allison takes a wholistic approach to teaching music, incorporating music theory, ear training, healthy physical technique, improvisation and site-reading as well as songwriting for students interested in composition. Drawing upon her theatre background, Allison encourages students to take creative risks, to be expressive and above all, to play with joy!
