Allison Tartalia is a musician, actress and teaching artist. In addition to her highly praised debut CD, Ready, Allison can be heard on the recordings of numerous other artists, singing background vocals and playing piano, melodica and other keyboard instruments. She has toured extensively throughout the United States and is a frequent festival performer. Allison studied at Pomona College and The New School as well as at the London Dramatic Academy. As a teaching artist, she has taught piano, guitar, rock band, voice and songwriting at a variety of organizations, including Educational Alliance, PS 166-The Richard Rogers School of Arts and Technology, Neighborhood Music and Arts, Willie Mae Rock and Roll Camp for Girls and Bach to Rock. In addition to her roster of private students, she is currently Director of Music for Queens, teaching the early music program Music for Aardvarks to babies and toddlers in the borough of Queens.
Allison takes a wholistic approach to teaching music, incorporating music theory, ear training, healthy physical technique, improvisation and site-reading as well as songwriting for students interested in composition. Drawing upon her theatre background, Allison encourages students to take creative risks, to be expressive and above all, to play with joy!
